The First Known Photograph of a Human Being

This photograph of Boulevard du Temple in Paris was made in 1838 by
Louis Daguerre, inventor of the daguerreotype process of photography:
Not only is it a superb example of the earliest photos, it is said to
be the first photograph to ever include a human being.  Two, in fact.
Images taken in the infancy of photography required an exposure
time of over ten minutes, meaning that all of the people, carriages
and other moving things simply disappeared from the scene.

If you look in the bottom left-hand corner you will see a man who
remained somewhat still during the shot because he was having his
shoes shined.  You can also make out the silhouette of the shoe shine boy.

A truly historic event but undoubtedly
neither were aware of their participation.
